Hello readers! You already know how I learnt this super amazing technique of Rorschach and became obsessed with it almost instantly, right?! For those who are confused, find my post here- https://ananyabanka.wixsite.com/fashioncognition/post/experimenting-with-rorschach

Well, I tried to up my game and combined rorschach and fashion with geometry. Yup, thats right! And let me tell you it is super cool! Lets go through the whole process-

To start with it, we need pretty much the same things-

  1. Paper

  2. Paints

  3. Rope or thread

  4. Paper cutting mat

  5. Paper cutter

  6. Pencils

We're gonna use that knowledge here as well. Lets start by drawing a basic one.

I drew a very rough line as my guide to know the length of the dress that I wanted to create.

Next I started with Rorschach. I put color blots of red and teal first because it is one of my favorite combinations.

Next I drew a circle and a triangle for my guide to cut them. I cut out the circle and followed the triangle line to cut strips. I didn't cut it all the way because I wanted it to look like a pop up.

I completed the croquis and added details. I really like how these strips are forming the shadow.

The next exploration is my absolute favorite. I was thinking how can I use this technique and create an actual garment which is not exactly abstract. That's when I thought of pants. They are symmetrical and making them with rorschach was very interesting. I really like how the colors blended together too.

For this too I made a croquis. I used hot pink and white for the color blots.

I finished the croquis and added details. I also cut out a triangle to make it look like the top of the figure.

Finally, this is how it looked when I used different backgrounds and honestly, I love each one of these.

This last exploration was not at all planned. I had this waste paper and I was trying out these colors to know how they would look together.

Then I wondered if it would look nice if I cut them into squares and arranged like a garment on the croquis. When I did that, it looked pretty cool to me. I stuck them with double sided tape so they would look a little elevated.

I love how all these explorations turned out. Rorschach has become one of my absolute favorites. This is one thing that will really help you bring out your creative side. Adding paper cutting to it was very interesting too. I have more ideas in mind which I want to try out, stay tuned!
